The Quietest Voices

Ideas pull on us. They work to turn our perception in particular directions. We are compelled to make-sense in only a few ways.

Ideas, call them voices, are insistent, demanding. They drown out any other response.

Instead, let us listen to the quietest voices.

How do we keep falling into the same traps?

How do we establish heuristics that help us avoid them?

We can find ways of seeing that are not merely mappings of our reality, but that hint at how we may sort through apparent complication without being blinded to complexity.

Are these instincts?

Perhaps. We’ve spent so long discounting instinct, or fetishizing it as a stand-in for desire….

In a quiet state these voices are clear. Their warnings can stop us in our tracks. It’s only in the confusion within this maelstrom of our intoxication with power, from within the power-pathology, that we find ourselves so confused and lacking.

There have always been those who could see what was going wrong.

There have always been those who have warned us against grave error.

These realities are shoved under the rug. We are encouraged to believe, “Who knew?”

Yet, inside, we can all find voices that whisper, “I knew…”

Let us find and cultivate these voices.

My work is centered on attending to the intersection of perception and creativity. Complexity cannot be reduced to any given certainty. Learning is Central: Sharing our gifts, Working together, Teaching and learning in reciprocity. Entering into shared Inquiry, Maintaining these practices as a way of life. Let’s work together to build practices, strengthen dialogue, and discover and develop community. Let me know how we might work together.
